This tool trains the Moving Centre to carry the act of reading, progressively bypassing
the inner voice. It also demonstrates something essential: the three centres operate
at fundamentally different speeds, and this speed can be trained.
THE THREE CENTRES AND THEIR READING SPEEDS
INTELLECTUAL CENTRE
70 – 250 wpm
Limited by the inner voice — it must sub-vocalise every word. This is ordinary reading.
MOVING CENTRE
400 – 700+ wpm
Pattern-recognises word shapes without speech. When engaged, it works far faster than thought.
EMOTIONAL CENTRE
Instantaneous
Grasps meaning, tone, and significance in a flash — but only when the other centres step aside.
The aim of this practice is to delegate the mechanical act of reading to the Moving Centre,
freeing the Emotional and Intellectual Centres to receive meaning rather than process symbols.
The threshold moment — when the inner voice falls silent and comprehension continues — is the signal.
